No long-term side effects are expected. Until nowadays, there is no negative effect known to us. In worst case, everything will stay like it is. Even if we inject more stem cells into your spine, the body will not be able to take them, imagine it like a small glass and a big glass … when you fill to much into it, the glass overflows, it makes no sense to do so, therefore different numbers of stem cells will be used.

What guidance is used during the injection (e.g., fluoroscopy, ultrasound) to ensure precision?

We use fluoroscopy, shortly called skopi, for the lumbar disc injections to ensure accurate placement. For the knee, we might use ultrasound or fluoroscopy, depending on the specific location and condition of the joint, but mostly we don’t need any for knees.

What is skopi?

Skopi is an instrument, which shows the doctor during the treatment, where the needle is so that he knows where to make the injection. It’s some kind of x-ray. This is very important when doing the spine treatment.

Do you know if the injection for my knee is intradisc or intrathecal?

İntrathecal means in the fluid in the spine. For some illnesses, this might be better, e.g. we are also treating autistic children with stem therapy, and in these cases injections are done intrathecal. If the injections are done intrathecal, they are done under light sedation.

Am I asleep during the procedure?

If its done intradisc, the stem cells are directly there, where they are needed, directly into the disc. You will not be asleep during the procedure, will be done under local anesthesia.
